A COMPREHENSIVE ZERO COVID STRATEGY FOR IRELANDIreland needs a comprehensive, zero covid strategy. A zero covid strategy would mean that Ireland would not have or maintain the active, uncontrolled, spread of the virus within the community. It would involve a combination of our current restrictions (for a period of time), adding in aggressive public health measures (contract tracing, case finding, testing, supported isolation), managing the Northern Irish border fairly and reasonably (in agreement with NI), and quarantining visitors in hotels (not including lorry drivers, cabin crew & sailors who would be managed separately). New Zealand is proof that a Zero Covid strategy works extremely effectively and efficiently. Enough is enough. We’ve spent the last year in a perpetual cycle of lockdowns, it evidently does NOT work. We have been in lockdown 3 since the start of January and it will continue until at least the beginning of April. That is 3 months, had we introduced a zero covid strategy at the beginning of this lockdown perhaps things would already be going back to ‘normal’. We are experiencing all of the pain of extreme lockdowns without any of the gain. For most, a zero covid strategy would not currently change much about their day-to-day life but it would give us all back our freedom in the near future. Ireland currently has the toughest lockdown restrictions in Europe and the 3rd toughest restrictions globally. It’s time to take a stand. Sign this petition to force the Irish government to implement a comprehensive Zero Covid strategy. This isn’t just a bad handling of a national emergency, it’s an unacceptable handling of a national emergency, they are failing us. They have had every opportunity to produce an effective living with Covid strategy and yet after weeks and month of waiting nothing has come to fruition. Sign this petition to show the Irish government that our only logical next option is to introduce a Zero Covid strategy.41 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Amy Flynn

Stop data centres being built. That there is an immediate threat to Ireland's energy supply, i.e. electricity and water , as outlined by Eirgrid due to the usage of energy by these huge centres throughout Ireland. It is estimated that these centres will be using a third of our energy supplies in the next four or five years. But the threat is more urgent as Eirgrid has reported that it expects electricity supply cuts this Winter and are purchasing 6 generators to try and deal with this predicted surge in supply. Not only will our services given by hospitals, schools, businesses etc be affected but, more worrying, it will also impact on individuals relying on a steady electricity supply and that includes sick people who cannot survive with uninterrupted service and also the many thousands of workers operating from home. The implications of regular power outages will have a devastating impact on civil and private society and will deter any businesses other than the ever powerful digital industries from investing in this country. This happened in California's Silicon valley where there was a mass exodus due to the irregularity of their power supplies due to overusage and exploitation of resources which is why they relocated to Ireland and we are about to become the latest victim of this industries' power grab, literally.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bernie Mc Adam

No Going Back - We Want an All Ireland National Health Service! We call for temporary public control over private hospitals to be extended to bring them into permanent, public ownership. This would lay the foundation of an All-Ireland National Health Service free at the point of delivery and fit for the health needs of our population in the 21st century. The campaign for an All-Ireland National Health Service is based upon the following principles: o All hospitals under public control o Increased pay and an enhanced career structure for nurses and all health and social care workers. o For publicly funded Primary Care that includes mental health support, physiotherapy, speech therapy etc. o For an integrated Health and Social Care service o The establishment of a state pharmaceutical company to manufacture essential medicines at low cost. o The exclusion of private practice and fees from public hospitals After this crisis, there are likely to be others. There will also be a backlog of untreated patients which will put even greater strain on our health services, North and South. In this situation the creation of an All Ireland National Health Service is more urgent than ever. Post Covid-19 there can be no going back.481 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Conor Reddy

Stop the unnecessary loss of lives in Ireland! We are calling on the Irish government to allocate increased funding to the mental health sector. Specifically, we urge the government to support us in addressing the alarming increase in deaths through suicide by providing more staff in the mental health sector, by making it easier for people to access dual and aftercare services and by supporting both individuals and volunteer groups who are currently lending their time and energy to preventing further loss within their local communities through suicide.732 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Aaron Ryan
